During the next week I had a call with the Macmillan Nurses about what happens next and the Cancer Support Team. Again, everyone is so nice and supportive. They give you all the information you will need, I’m just terrible at remembering what they say!

The next visit to the Hospital was on the 18th January, where I had an echocardiogram. This was a nice easy procedure, its an ultrasound for your heart. It was a young male technician, he looked about half my age! A few mins taking pictures of my heart and he said all looks good.

He handed my some tissues to wipe the gel off my chest, which in my head I was sniggering about, I got dressed and I was on my way.

On the Wednesday that week I had a called with my Oncologist (Millie), I cant really recall now how that conversation went, I think she ran through my results of all the tests. The only one that was outstanding was the HER2, if it is HER2+ they can offer a more targeted treatment. Even without those results they wanted to start Chemo as soon as possible.

On the 21st January I had my letter through with my official diagnosis;

Diagnosis - Invasive ductal carcinoma of the right breast T2 25mm in diameter in the lower right breast.

Biopsy results Grade 3 triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma

Triple negative means it is HER2 Negative and not hormonal.

First Chemo booked in for the 5th February 2021. This was actually moved forward in the end to the 1st February.
