So as I was going to lose my hair I wanted to shave it off. Everyone kept saying to me “you may not lose it” but the nurses all said it is a very high % it will go, so I’d rather lose it on my terms than the Chemo’s. Plus I could raise some money doing it.

When I set up the profile on the Macmillan website and you write why you are doing it my first thoughts were to do it in Memory of my Auntie who recently passed. I then was thinking, do I mention on there I also have cancer. At first I didn’t, as I didn’t want people to find out that way. So I put it up first of all without that information.

I set my target at £250, not thinking I would hit that much.

Was I surprised when the money started coming in! In total I’ve managed to raise over £2300!! I was so overwhelmed!

After I had told work and written a post on Facebook telling everyone my diagnosis I did update my Brave the Shave account information to say that I’m also doing the shave for me.

I wasn’t quite sure when I would do the shave, I wanted to get my first chemo date in writing.

Once that arrive I decided to do the shave on the 30th January, just before my chemo starts on the 1st February.

We had a little fun with it when it came to the shave, trying out a Mohawk and other cuts!

It was quite liberating! But now my heads cold!

Luckily with my new crochet skills I sorted myself out with a hat and matching scarf!
