32. It's FECing time...

On Monday I started my last 4 cycles of chemo, I did also start writing this blog on Monday but I've actually been knocked on my arse!

Its difficult to tell if im so tired due to the different drugs, or if its just a case my body is working so hard to fight the last bit of cancer left.

Anyway, to explain FEC. This is the name of the cocktail of drugs im having this time. Sometimes you will see it as FEC-T, but as i'm taking part in the trial I had the T in the first 4 rounds.

FEC is named after the initials of the drugs used for this treatment. The drugs are:

• fluorouracil (also called 5FU)

• epirubicin

• cyclophosphamide.

The T is

• docetaxel (Taxotere®).

Docetaxel is the drug that I had a reaction to last time, so i'm glad im not having that one again!

The F & E are in large syringes, which were nice and quick. I sort of lost track of time and what they were doing as I was too busy playing my escape room game on my laptop!

The C, was a drip that took about 30 mins and its something ive had before so I know i wouldn't have any reactions to this.

At the start of the treatment the nurse sat me in one of the nice purple comfy chairs next to the window and explained what would happen today, the drugs im having and possible side effects.

The side effects are about the same as before, the hair loss, sore mouth etc. The new side effect though is red wee! Also the likelyhood of nausea is higher this time round so they gave me a load of pre-meds to help with this.

I could have started chemo straight away but they gave it half an our for the pre-meds to kick in.

In total the whole treatment only took a couple ours, much better that the all day job I had to go through last time.

Once they started the last meds I messaged Dan to come and collect me.

Anyway, its now Thursday and I have no idea where the last few days have gone!

I've been taking 4 different drugs for nausea and still feeling a bit sick. Its difficult to tell if i feel sick as im hungry or its the drugs. Either way i've just been sleeping it off.

So for now, thats all i can write today. I'm gonna have some Mac n Cheese and maybe go back to sleep!
