So, I'm now 5 treatments in to my radiotherapy and all is going well so far.
Unlike chemo there are no immediate side effects and the treatment itself is very simple and easy. Most days I'm in and out within 20 mins.
It really has helped staying at my sisters as travelling time would be about an hour some days, depending on traffic. From here it's a max of 20 mins.
The only side effect I've had so far I a tender boob. No skin discolouration yet, but the effect of radiotherapy continues after the actual treatment, so it may happen weeks afterwards.
It does feel all a bit weird for me now. Know the treatment is coming to an end. Since the start of the year my life has revolved around my cancer. Everything else went on hold.
I'm going to have to relearn to do a lot of things.
Work being the main one. My brain isn't 100% still, it feels slow and sluggish. Like when a car battery is a bit crap and a car doesn't turn over very well...that's how my brain feels.
I look all bright, breezy and with it but the tiredness still hits in very quickly.
This will all get better in time, I just have to be patient.
I've already started making plans to get fit by signing up with a personal trainer. I don't like my Uncle Fester look atm, I would rather G.I Jane!
Tomorrow me and my sister are going to go bowling. Will be interesting to see who wins as I do have a handicap...my right arm and shoulder is all a bit achy. Not sure if I've slept funny or if it's all something to do with the treatment.
I will let you know how I get on!
